A fascination for a visual play of forces is the foundation of the work Equanimity. The way in which structures like bridges, buildings, and machinery show the underlying physics in their construction inspires Emilio Timp. But where bridges and cranes predominantly serve a functional purpose, the series of sculptures made by Timp aim to transform this play of forces into a serene experience. A perfect moment where everything is in a frail order.
The new series of work he created for EXboot aspires to this goal once again. This time by utilizing fragility, subtle movement and more complex shapes. It’s a combination between, art, physical mechanics and the human experience with which Timp hopes to create a moment of peace and urges the beholder to contemplate the fast pace of modern times
Emilio Timp (1993) studies mechanical engineering before applying to the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) to study Product Design. Here he was given the freedom to make his graduation work Equanimity, which has been showcased multiple times and has been added to a number of art collections. Besides working as a solo artist Timp is part of Utrecht based Studio Zwartframe, which consists of artist and designers.
