[re]birth / you melt my heart

We live in a constant cycle of destruction and rejuvenation. The Earth is changing. We are
changing. How will a potential post-human life evolve and shape new visions of the world?
Four Fine Art students from the HKU (NL) and KASK (BE) explore these questions and reimagine
them in a site specific installation here at the ExBunker. New ground is given for nature to start
sprouting again and artefacts from a lost past will emerge, intertwined with contemporary and past
habits. The Bunker is transformed into a space of potential life that will survive even in an apocalyptic
scenario, similar to the Svalbard Global Seed Centre in Norway, harbouring its seeds and giving
them the opportunity to flourish again, giving rise to a new landscape that goes beyond the known
geographical and social boundaries. The installation comes to life, grows and reveals traces of a
long gone past, frozen in time, conjuring a speculative reality that is not far from the truth.
Natalija Gucheva
Working with a variety of mediums, Gucheva’s work addresses the multidimensionality of
spirituality in the contemporary, reevaluating our connection to nature, the divine and our
community. Through the value of storytelling & reinventing modern-day rituals, she presents a
look into a possible post-human world, inviting you to think about your own personal utopia.

Katharina Busl
Katharina Busl is using a variety of media in her artworks such as painting, sculpture, and
installation. Within her work, she explores the concept of transcending our physical, worldly
limitations and blurs the boundaries between the physical and non-physical. Busl takes inspiration
from our increasingly interconnected and digitized world, but also from our past, having always
relevant, ontological questions in mind. Through a blend of abstract forms and bright, bold colors,
the artist creates an otherworldly, hybrid experience and transports the audience to a world where
constant transformations happen, inviting the viewer to consider the possibilities of embracing a
new view and definition of self in our reality.

Vincent Entekhabi
Vincent Entekhabi’s recent works are mainly composed of time-based media such as animation,
video, and music. The thematic core of the work usually lies in theoretical questions on the use
and thus the effects of digital media; with a background in history, a premonition of the future, and
above all, a deconstruction of the present.

Junhao Xiang [Zeonho]
Junhao Xiang [Zeonho] is a third-year fine art student at HKU. In his work, he uses several media
to develop his research project and to visualize it into an artwork, mainly focusing on sculpture,
installation, and video. Xiang combines experimental and autonomous ways in his artistic practice
to reconstruct the context within his research, generating his perception of social, cultural, and
political issues, phenomena, and representations. Recently, he initiated his research project
named: “The Garden as a Political System” in which he focuses on the context of the garden and
how it has shifted in the past up until now through the entanglement of timeframes, colonization
processes, cultural exchange dialogues, and the imperial ideology.
